NWAMHC has been at the forefront of the transition
movement in Alabama since its inception more than five years ago.
In partnership with Winston county, Haleyville city and Winfield
city schools and the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services,
Northwest works every year with approximatly 200 students with a
wide range of disabilities. This program seeks to assist students
to find and maintain employment and to develop skills they will
use throughout their lives. Recognition of the program's success
at both the state and national level, has brought funding to train
other areas of Alabama in modeling this effort, and introduced Northwest
to families, individuals and agency leaders across the state.
